Teak Deck Repair San Diego

There was a soft mushy spot in the deck. Further inspection shows dry rot in the subfloor. In order to keep costs down and the repair from growing too big, just this area was repaired. With the rottted wood removed and all steel screws, the remaining subfloor edges were coated with GitRot Penetrating Epoxy. The steel surface had some rust that needed to be chipped away, treated with acid rust converter, and coated with Petit Rust sealer/primer. The new subfloor was sealed with a resin mixture and set in place, fastened with stainless steel screws, and bedded with epoxy gel. The teak strips were restored and reused. Instead of stapling them in place with steel staples, they were screwed down with stainless steel screws, and the holes plugged with teak plugs. The seams are sealed with Teak Decking Systems deck caulking, then lightly sanded for a smooth surface.
